Cedar Valley Invitational title

June 23-24, 2012

One thing is for sure, the weather was hot this past weekend and so was Jeremy Willis! He fired a tournament low 64 in Sunday’s final round for a two-day total of 133 (-7) to win the 2012 Cedar Valley Golf & Country Club Invitational which included a sizzling 30 on the back nine.

The course was in great shape.  M.L. and Betty Langston, the owners, were once again gracious hosts.

On Sunday, going to number 10 there was a three-way tie for the championship lead between Willis, Rick Arnold, and Joedy McGraw, each player at -4 with Nico van Rensburg one shot back.

However, no one in the final group could match Willis’s play on the back nine which included five birdies and no bogeys. And on the 18th, the 22 year-old had a putt for his sixth birdie of the side and a 29 that barely missed!

Second place went to former Shorter College’s Nico van Rensgurg who played great golf shooting rounds of 69 and 67 (136). Third place went to first round leader Rick Arnold who played steady golf and came in with rounds of 66 and 72 (138).

In the B – Division, David Black took first place shooting matching rounds of 76 for a two day total of 152. Chad Naugher came in second with rounds of 78 and 75 (153). Finishing 3rd was Mike Granato with rounds of 78 and 80 (158).

Thanks and congratulations to all who participated!
