Lee Morgan, Tim Hill, Johnny Bentley and Kurt
Duryea combined to shoot an 18 under par 53
which tied them with the foursome of Bill
Trammell, Terry Adams, Bobby Russell, and Eddie
Robertson in the Bain Hammett charity golf
tournament at the
Cherokee County Country Club (Centre, Al).
Morgan, Hill, Bentley and Duryea claimed the top
prize thanks to an birdie (18th), birdie (17th),
eagle (16th) finish on the scorecard playoff
regression. Russell, Robertson, Adams and
Trammell carded birdies on the final three
holes.
Both teams topped a talented field that included
teams from Birmingham, Anniston and Rome.
Bain was a very active, happy and healthy 4 year
old little boy until December 2, 2012. On the
night of 12-1-12 Bain had a stomach virus. He
only threw up 2 times and his mother thought he
was over the worst. The morning of 12-2-12 they
went in to check on him for the second time,
because he hadn’t gotten up yet and he was
seizing and unresponsive. He was carried to
Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. He had a CAT
Scan that showed several areas of swelling in
his brain. They had him airlifted to Egleston
Children’s Hospital in Atlanta where he was put
in PICU. He had to be put into a medically
induced coma so his brain would stop seizing. He
stayed there for 3 weeks. He was then sent to
Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta for
rehab therapy. He had to relearn to do
everything starting with sitting up. He was
there for 5 ˝ weeks. He was then sent to Out
Patient Rehab across the road from Scottish Rite
for 7 weeks. He still has to have “hands on”
when he walks, he’s still not talking, has
anywhere from 10-30 seizures a day and is still
in outpatient rehab. The golf tournament aided
efforts to raise $13,000 in honor of Bain for
his new seizure alert service dog to help alert
ahead of time so his parents can complete simple
daily tasks with ease.
