Roman Junior Golfer Cards His First Eagle!

Par 5 #12 at Georgia National Golf ClubAfter scoring his first eagle, Jonathan Bryan went on to win the tournament at Georgia National Golf Club.Jonathan Bryan scored his first eagle yesterday in tournament play at the Georgia National Golf Club in McDonough, Ga.

The Model Middle School seventh grader did so on the par 5 12th hole.  Playing off the red tee at 383 yards, Jonathan's drive landed in the left side of the fairway, offering a relatively clear shot to the green 180 yards away.  For his second shot, his chose his hybrid and brought it just shy of the bunker laying in wait in front of the green about 15 yards from the hole.  He grabbed his sand wedge, took a couple of practice swings, and took his shot.  It landed about five feet inside the green, and rolled the rest of the way to the hole!

"That was exciting," said Jonathan.  "I chipped in my first birdie at Stonebridge Golf Club and today I've chipped in for eagle.  Now my goal is to make a hole-in-one!"

The eagle helped him on his way to an 83, giving him the win.  Jonathan was playing against eight other 10 and 11-year-old golfers in the Canongate Junior Tour.  Yesterday's win was the third in a row for him on the Tour.

Last month, Jonathan also earned Tournament Champion in the 10-11-year-old division in the 2011 Rome Junior Golf Tournament.
